Dental Implants
"One of the services we are increasingly asked for here at Spring Grove Clinic is the provision of dental implants to replace missing teeth. This can be for a number of different reasons, either the teeth have been missing for some time, people aren’t able to eat because of the lack of teeth, and probably most commonly people having a fear of dentures as a result of losing their teeth at the front which is going to affect the way they smile and the way they are seen by other people
Patients care is always of primary concern ensuring that the experience is always comfortable and bearable at all times. The first stage of the surgical process of the placement of a dental implant is to make the area numb in order that the patient feels no pain or discomfort and this is done using a local anesthetic. Prior to the injection at the site where the implant is going to be placed, we apply a gel (a special analgesic or pain killing gel) which means the person will hardly notice the local anesthetic being placed, this enables the surgeon to work free of fear that the patient maybe feeling some discomfort during the process.
After ensuring that the area is completely numb, consideration is given to placement of the dental implant; this comes sterile prepackaged from Switzerland, the design, shape and size already having been selected during the diagnostic process. In addition to reference to clinical photography we also refer to dental x-ray pictures throughout the procedure. The implant is placed in the upper or lower jaw (sometimes both) covered by soft tissue and possibly two small stitches placed to ensure that the gum heals neatly over the top of the fixture.
On satisfactory completion of the surgical phase of your treatment and once all the members of the team are happy that all the spring grove clinic implant requirements have been met, a member of my clinical care team will spend some time going through in detail the post operative care required. This encompasses some advice on pain relief, possible problems that may arise and what to do in the event should such a problem arise. This is followed up the next day by a courtesy telephone call from myself or a member of my patient care team to ensure that the procedure has gone uneventfully and to answer any questions or queries you may have
At spring grove we don’t just offer an ordinary service we offer a full dental implant service and we strive as a team to look after patients from the moment they arrive at the clinic to the moment they leave. "
