In 1991, Dr David Cunningham achieved his childhood ambition of becoming a dental surgeon. In the early years of his career he spent his time in general practice in Glasgow’s East End gaining valuable experience in treating a wide array of patients and problems. In 1996, he founded his own general practice, which has grown consistently year on year.
After relocating to a traditional cottage location, the practice was renamed Spring Grove Clinic and has been recognised across the profession as a standard bearer for quality evidence-based dental care, encompassing the new innovation of digital and implant dentistry.
David has had a lifelong commitment to dental education, having travelled worldwide, seeking out the best training available. In the summer of 2014 he was awarded a Masters in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry from the University of Manchester. This relentless commitment to the education, innovation and quality in evidence-based dentistry is the foundation of David’s clinical practice.
At Spring Grove Clinic, the ethos is that ‘the best dentistry is no dentistry’, i.e. only do what is necessary and adopt the most minimally invasive techniques possible. Where treatment is necessary, only the highest quality materials and laboratories are used.
The acquisition of additional practices and adding them to the Spring Grove Clinic Group is a new and exciting opportunity with all the challenges of bringing the practices to the required Spring Grove Clinic standard.
David runs the Spring Grove Clinic Group in partnership with his wife, Dawn. Together they have three boys and live in a small village in South Lanarkshire.
Group Operations Manager
Gillian joined David and the team as a Receptionist in September 2003 from Glasgow Dental Hospital and started her role as Practice Manager in February 2007.
When David Cunningham Dental Care moved premises in May 2008 and became Spring Grove Clinic, Gillian was involved in the development of the building and the whole transfer. Her role at this stage was to manage and build a team and work towards our award as ‘Practice of the Year’ and ‘Best Patient Care’, for which we won recognition in 2009.
In July 2014, Spring Grove Clinic became a group due to the purchase of two more practices and Gillian has now become Group Operations Manager. Her role is to manage the operations in three practices and train and develop the teams to the Spring Grove Clinic standard. Her week involves travelling to each of the practices and she enjoys being out and about, meeting new people and seeing more of the countryside.
Gillian is married to Craig and has a beautiful daughter named Ayla.
Kirsty joined the practice when she was 17 years old, after leaving high school, and has worked her way up from assistant nurse to Clinical Manager, while gaining various qualifications on the way.
Kirsty now leads her fellow nurses, ensuring a high quality of care is provided to patients across all of the clinics. Her promotion has allowed her to take on more responsibility while still enabling her to work alongside David. Her extensive knowledge means she’s fantastic at putting patients at ease and she enjoys building relationships with them and suppliers.
During her spare time, Kirsty enjoys keeping fit and spending time with her friends and family.

She feels a responsibility to optimise the patients’ oral health, maintaining their restorative work and allowing them to enjoy their smiles and keep them healthy.
