Same Day Teeth
If you have lost, or face losing, most of your teeth, you may be looking for an alternative to dentures. Although we can potentially replace every missing tooth with a dental implant, this may not be the right option for you because of the cost or if you have areas of substantial bone loss. Same Day Teeth offer the ideal solution as we can give you back a full arch of non-removable teeth using just four to six strategically-placed dental implants.
- Have your full smile back in a single day
- A long-lasting & natural-looking restoration
- Protects your facial structure by minimising future bone loss
- 0% or low-interest finance options available
There are several ways in which we can use dental implants to replace a large number of missing teeth – Same Day Teeth is one of those options. With Same Day Teeth, we place four to six dental implants in either your upper or lower jaw, then attach a titanium framework to these implants. This framework includes an acrylic gum veneer and a full arch of prosthetic teeth, all of which look 100% natural. We can either do what’s called ‘immediate loading’, where we attach a temporary bridge of teeth on the same day as your implants, or we can do a ‘delayed load’ where you wear dentures over the implants while they heal and integrate with your bone and then fit your permanent fixed teeth approximately 90 days after the implants are placed.
Immediate loading or delayed loading – which is the best option?
Every case is different, so you won’t know which the right option for you is until you come in for your first consultation. Immediate loading is more complex than delaying loading, so we may need to spend more time on the initial planning stage, as well as the procedure taking longer to complete. Whatever happens, you can trust us to explain the pros and cons of each option with your needs as the priority.
What are the benefits of dental implants over other tooth-replacing options?
If you have lots of missing teeth, dental implants – including Same Day Teeth - have several distinct benefits.
One of the many downsides of tooth loss is that, without a root to send important signals to your jaw bone, the bone itself can become weak and start to disintegrate where the root is missing. Eventually, bone loss can lead to future tooth loss, drifting teeth and a misaligned bite, a change to your underlying facial structure making you look much older, and even problems with your speech. This can be especially noticeable if you have many missing teeth.
Because we use four to six dental implants with Same Day Teeth, the bone responds to the presence of these implants by regenerating around them, which can help keep your mouth and jawline looking well-defined.
Are Same Day Teeth safe?
Same Day Teeth have an excellent safety record and dental implants themselves are successful in up to 95% of cases (Source: University College London Hospitals), depending on where in the mouth they’re placed. Giving you back your full smile in just one day does take specific skills and knowledge, so it’s important to choose a dentist and dental practice, such as Spring Grove Clinic, with experience of this treatment.
As this is a surgical procedure, it does carry the usual risks associated with surgery, such as infection, but we will give you comprehensive aftercare instructions to help minimise the chance of any complications. If you ever have any questions, we are always only a phone call or email away.
It’s important to look after your Same Day Teeth in the same way that you would your natural teeth. In most rare cases where an implant has become unstable in the months or years after treatment, it is because the patient has not looked after the implant. Even if all of your teeth are false, you should brush and floss them at least twice a day, and attend regular dental check-ups and hygienist appointments. We will advise you about the best tools to use to clean your Same Day Teeth properly.
Do Same Day Teeth hurt?
The implants for your Same Day Teeth will be placed under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel anything at all during the procedure. Most patients tell us that having a dental implant put in is far more comfortable than having a tooth extracted.
As dental implants go into your gum and jaw bone, you will experience some discomfort after the procedure, but this can usually be managed well with over-the-counter pain medication. You may need to take some time off work to relax and heal – we will talk to you about how much recovery time you’re likely to need before you agree your treatment plan.
We have used our many years of experience of delivering implant treatments at Spring Grove Clinic to develop specific pre- and post-op protocols to make your recovery as smooth and comfortable as possible.
How long will my treatment take?
How long your treatment takes will depend on your individual case. If we need to take steps to get you orally fit first, this would be built into your treatment plan. Once the implants for your Same Day Teeth are placed, we will either place a temporary full arch of teeth straight away or you will need to wear your dentures for approximately 12 weeks before the permanent new arch is fitted.
Are Same Day Teeth affordable?
When looking into dental implants, it’s tempting to compare the price to other restorations. In that context, dental implants and Same Day Teeth seem expensive. It’s worth remembering that while restorations such as dental bridges and dentures may be less expensive initially, they also have to be replaced at regular intervals. Dental implants, on the other hand, have the potential to last a lifetime if you look after them properly. We also find that dental implants help to prevent problems such as bone loss and keep patients orally fit, which can cut down how much you need to spend on future dental treatment.
